ABOUT Derek

Derek Camp has served as Wayne Township Assessor since January 2024, when he assumed the role after previously serving as Chief Deputy Assessor under longtime Assessor Bev Zuber. Camp works closely with residents, businesses, and neighborhood organizations to ensure property values are accurate, understandable, and reflective of real market conditions.

A resident of downtown Fort Wayne, Camp brings deep familiarity with Wayne Township’s economic and historic landscape. His campaign will focus on protecting community character, maintaining fair and data-driven assessments, and ensuring residents continue to have a clear voice in a process that directly impacts their tax bills.

Derek is a Northeast Indiana native and graduate of DeKalb High School.  Camp has a bachelor’s degree in History and Political Science from Purdue University.  Camp served as the Chairman of the Allen County Democratic party from 2021 until 2025.  In addition to his experience in the Wayne Township Assessor’s office, Camp has an extensive work history in the areas of public policy development, political consulting, and law office support.
